THIERRY BRETON European Commissioner for the Internal Market (2019-2024) Former Minister for Economic Affairs, Finance and Industry of France (2005-2007) An engineer in computer science, Thierry Breton began his career as a tech entrepreneur. In 1981, he started an SME in the United States, Forma Systems, which he headed for 5 years. During that period, he published a number of techno-thrillers, including Softwar, with 2 million copies sold and translated into more than twenty languages around the world. In France, he designed and then led Futuroscope, the first science and technology theme park, between 1986 and 1990. In parallel, he served as a regional councillor and then Vice-President of the Poitou-Charentes region from 1986 to 1992. He then ran a number of large companies in the IT and new tech sector. He led Bull from 1993 to 1997, before taking over the leadership of Thomson Multimedia, a global electronics company. In 2002, he was appointed CEO of multinational telco operator France TƩlƩcom. In 2005, he was appointed Minister for Economic Affairs, Finance and Industry of France, a post he held until 2007. Following his ministerial office, he taught governance in Boston, at Harvard Business School. In 2009, he became Chief Executive Officer of Atos, a digital technology and service company, until 2019. He chaired ANRT, the National Research and Technology Association, until 2019. In 2019, he became the European Commissioner for the Internal Market. He was responsible until October 2024 for industry, services, digital, defence and space, as well as tourism and audiovisual. Thierry Breton is a member of the French Academy of Technology.

CRISTINA LUNGHI Founder of Arborus & Architect of the International Charter for Inclusive AI. Ph.D in European Law. Cristina Lunghi is an internationally recognized expert in gender equality and the founder of Arborus, a pioneering NGO created in 1995 to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. With a Ph.D. in European Law, Cristina has spent over 30 years promoting equality at both the corporate and policy levels, working with governments, global institutions, and multinational corporations. She is the architect of the Gender Equality European and International Standard (GEEIS), a certification audited by Bureau Veritas and TĆV Reinland, and implemented by leading companies across more than 56 countries. Cristina also launched GEEIS-Diversity and the GEEIS-SDG Trophy, two initiatives that align corporate diversity strategies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2020, Cristina partnered with Orange Group and launched the International Charter for Inclusive AI, under the patronage of the French Digital Secretary of State, Generation Equality ā UN Women, and the CEDAW-UN. Uma Kalkar is a socio-technical researcher focused on AI governance and emerging and critical risks posed by new technologies. Uma recently finished a year-long secondment as a Policy Advisor in the Strategic Foresight Unit at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). At the OECD, she applied futures methods to support Member State policy actions on emerging global risks and promote democratic governance and international cooperation. In 2020, Uma relaunched 18by Vote, a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to engaging young and rising voters, serving as Director of Strategy & Innovation. To date, 18by Vote has reached over 3.5 million people and has been featured in media, including The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Uma previously consulted for the Peace Innovation Institute in The Hague to design high-impact peace technology programmes and supported a 4.5M project funded by the Government of Canada to investigate the impact of COVID-19 and technological disruptions on skills-building and the future of work for Canadian youth. Uma is the current Tech and Innovation Ambassador for the Aspen Institute UK. She is a Rising Fellow Leader alumna of the Aspen Institute UK, a former Aspen Ideas Fellow at the Aspen Institute U.S., and a former Presidential Fellow at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. She also sits on the board of New York City's Youth Civic Hub and is a Member of Citizen University, a U.S. nonprofit fostering a culture of responsible citizenship. Uma is a sought-after keynote speaker and panellist on AI governance, civic tech, and public interest technology. She has spoken at high-level conferences such as the London Tech Leaders AI conference, EAGxNordics, and the World Summit Awards Congress, and on national television. Uma holds a Master of Public Policy in Digital and New Technology from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and a Master of Global Affairs in Innovation Policy from the University of Toronto.
